Summary:
This paper describes a simple general electrical discharges circuit model for electrical discharges simulation in overvoltaged air gaps. A macroscopic circuital method of simulation utilising the standard SPICE network simulator, based on a bidimensional non-linear impedances network has been proposed. The structure of the simulation framework is designed to take into account the electrode geometries in a straightforward way.
A study of conducted current waveform for different electrode geometries on resistive loads has been done. The simulation results have been compared with experimental data obtained by implementing a measurement system for the conducted currents on resistive loads stroked by electrical discharges.
